This is a signpainters shadow, when sign painting was an art in demand, painters would naturally create depth in the most efficient way possible, the letter E being one of the most common in the english language, the shadow can be achieved in just 4 strokes.
This is a printers shadow made of 8 strokes, as print design became more and more prevalent, the cost, craft and efficiency took a back seat to mass production, something we at Studio Etch believe is as true in digital today as it was then.
